Lesson #68: You must shine a bit
I just watched a Sadguru video that I had sent to myself months ago. Found while decluttering my emails this morning.
The video was titled 6 Things To Do to Earn Your Child’s Friendship.
I actually think I have a great relationship (and friendship) with Joey. I’m sure it isn’t perfect, but I’m proud of Joey and I’m proud of our relationship. It has been And I found the video validating of my own views on life. So the big lesson for me — which is where I’m at right now — is in line with his 6th piece of advice, that being, You must shine a bit.
In following my dream to set up my business, being available for Joey and setting an example by living my dreams were both factors motivating me to be courageous and step out of my comfort zone. And along the way, with Instagram and market stalls and putting myself out onto the interwebs, I have done a little bit of shining.
I guess I can even accept some of the ribbing I’ve received when my optimistic, maybe delusional, hopes and dreams haven’t come to pass. Maybe I’m even an example of what not to do.
Marianne Williamson wrote:
You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
So today’s lesson is You must shine a bit
Be the kind of person they want to be like ..
You must make them fall in love with you ..
You must shine a bit ..

PS I just realised after writing this that today’s Wordle was also SHINE!
